Performance of asphalt mixes with high recycling rates for wearing layers

2016

The corresponding paper presents selected results of a research on the feasibility of going toward 100% recycling of asphalt pavements into surface courses through an increasing percentage of RA within the mixes. The research is carried out within a two-year CEDR Transnational Road Research project, AllBack2Pave, led by the Technische Universitaet Dresden (Germany), together with the University of Nottingham (UK) and the University of Palermo (Italy), and finalised in January 2016. The main objectives of the project are - to establish, through laboratory tests on binders and asphalt mixes, whether the use of high rates of RA is feasible in developing mixes with high level of durability, and…

Greedy versus Dynamic Channel Aggregation Strategy in CRNs: Markov Models and Performance Evaluation

2011

Part 1: - PE-CRN 2011 Workshop; International audience; In cognitive radio networks, channel aggregation techniques which aggregate several channels together as one channel have been proposed in many MAC protocols. In this paper, we consider elastic data traffic and spectrum adaptation for channel aggregation, and propose two new strategies named as Greedy and Dynamic respectively. The performance of channel aggregation represented by these strategies is evaluated using continuous time Markov chain models. Moreover, simulation results based on various traffic distributions are utilized in order to evaluate the validity and preciseness of the mathematical models.

Performance assessment of field deployed multi-crystalline PV modules in Nordic conditions

2019

This paper presents an investigation of data monitoring quality and evaluation of performance degradation of four different multi-crystalline silicon (mc-Si) photovoltaic (PV) modules installed in the higher latitude conditions in southern Norway. Degradation of each module has been investigated in terms of degradation of short-circuit current (I SC ), open-circuit voltage (V OC ), fill factor (FF) and maximum power (P MPP ). The analysis for the period of monitoring data from 2014 to 2018 show no considerable module degradation compared to the standard degradation rate of all parameters. The statistical analysis of I SC shows an average degradation of 0.17% for all modules. Spectral correc…

Image of the University Faculty in the View of Student Teachers

2015

In the article "Image of the University Faculty in the View of Student Teachers", the methods of survey and analysis of performance results are used to explore the image of university faculty in the experience of students of teacher education and pedagogics. An illustrative example is one of the key tools of education in pedagogics. It is significant to investigate the image of university faculty in teacher education because the university teacher also serves as a model of the professional pedagogical performance for student teachers in teacher education. The article highlights the visual image of the university teacher and their most typical personality traits that might…

Post-activation potentiation (PAP) is a well-described phenomenon with a short half-life (~28 s) that enhances muscle force production at submaximal levels of calcium saturation (i.e., submaximal levels of muscle activation). It has been largely explained by an increased myosin light chain phosphorylation occurring in type II muscle fibers, and its effects have been quantified in humans by measuring muscle twitch force responses to a bout of muscular activity. However, enhancements in (sometimes maximal) voluntary force production detected several minutes after high-intensity muscle contractions are also observed, which are also most prominent in muscles with a high proportion of type II fi…

Performance evaluation of OpenFlow enabled Commodity and Raspberry-pi Wireless Routers

2017

Software defined network (SDN) allows the decoupling of data and control plane for dynamic and scalable network management. SDN is usually associated with OpenFlow protocol which is a standard interface that enables the network controllers to determine the path of network packets across a network of switches. In this paper, we evaluate openflow performance using commodity wireless router and raspberry pi with two different SDN controllers. Our test setup consists of wired and wireless client devices connected to openflow enabled commodity wireless router and raspberry pi. All clients used traffic generator tool to transmits data to a sink server host. The results are promising and paves the…

On the optimal design of multi-stage cascaded transistor amplifiers with noise, gain and mismatch constraints

2007

The problem of evaluating the optimal performances of cascaded, unbalanced, multi-stage transistor amplifiers is addressed. In particular, a theoretically rigorous approach is proposed for the determination of a family of Optimal Design Curves (ODC's) which express the best noise-gain tradeoff that can be achieved - at each frequency and device operating condition - when a simultaneous constraint on amplifier input VSWR is accounted for. Such curves can be used as a more meaningful starting point in practical amplifier design in place of the approximate calculations so far employed for target performance or optimization goals determination.

An innovative way to highlight the power of each polymorphism on the elite athletes phenotype expression

2015

The purpose of this study was to determine the probability of soccer players having the best genetic background that could increase performance, evaluating the polymorphism that are considered Performance Enhancing Polymorphism (PEPs) distributed on five genes: PPARα, PPARGC1A, NRF2, ACE e CKMM. Particularly, we investigated how each polymorphism works directly or through another polymorphism to distinguish elite athletes from non-athletic population. Materials And Methods. Sixty professional soccer players (age 22.5 ± 2.2) and sixty healthy volunteers (age 21.2± 2.3) were enrolled. Samples of venous blood was used to prepare genomic DNA. The polymorphic sites were scanned using PCR-RFLP pr…
